Sunday night game between Eagles and Rams It was an electric game, with Philadelphia coming out on top 37-20 despite being a six-point game at halftime.
But while the Eagles achieved a huge win under… Jalen hurts‘, was not the most impressive player on the pitch on Sunday.
Saquon Barkley It was out of this world.
The seventh-year player had a career-high 255 receiving yards, two rushing scores and four receptions for 47 receiving yards. He set the single-game franchise record for rushing yards, surpassing LeSean McCoy who had 217 in 2013. Barkley also became the first player in Eagles history to reach 300 total scrimmage yards in a single outing.
But where does this performance rank from a fantasy football perspective? We crunched the numbers and found that Barkley’s performance on Sunday night was better than any other this season, and ranks in the top 10 single-game performances among all running backs over the past five seasons — from all three scoring standpoints (half-points per reception (PPR). ), full point PPR, standard)
This got us thinking, is Barkley the new one? Christian McCaffrey Fantasy football? Over the past five seasons, the Penn State product has had seven 30-point fantasy offers (a full point) while McCaffrey has had six fantasy offers. When looking at half-point PPR leagues, he has six 30-point games while McCaffrey is down to four. CMC is statistically better at catching passes, but Barkley’s explosive play makes up for that.
Since 2020, he’s had six 50-plus-yard rushes that only trail Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor. When looking at more than 50 yards Rapid landinghe’s got three – tied for third behind Henry and Taylor. For perspective, CMC has three rushes of over 50 yards and one rushing score of over 50 yards. On Sunday, Barkley had two scores rushing for 70-plus yards, becoming the first player to have multiple rushing touchdowns of 70-plus yards in the same game since Maurice Jones-Drew in 2009.
FOX Sports Research broke down the running backs with the most 30-point fantasy games from all three scoring perspectives. Although Barkley doesn’t rank high on any of the lists below, you’ll quickly see how his play this year will likely get him there. Let’s take a look:

As seen above, the bulk of Barkley’s 30-point fantasy games have come this year. This prompted us to take a look at what McCaffrey’s numbers looked like through the first 11 games of his historic season last year, and the numbers were astonishing.
The 49ers star has earned 272.8 fantasy points over 11 games in 2023 in full-point PPR leagues, 248.8 in half-point leagues, and 224.8 in standard scoring leagues.
Barkley? This year he averaged 265.9 in full-point PPR leagues, 252.4 in half-point leagues, and 238.9 in standard scoring leagues. This means Barkley has more points than CMC at this point in the season in two of the three scoring systems used in fantasy football.
To break it down further, Philly’s running back has 1,649 scrimmage yards and 1,392 receiving yards — while McCaffrey has 1,328 and 939 in his first 11 games of 2023.
This huge gap in yards is where Barkley made up for the gap over McCaffrey with an incredible number of receptions. If he continues at this rate, “Super Saquon” will likely be the highest-rated fantasy player before 2025.
