According to the Delhi Road Accident Report 2023, an average of 16 road accidents occur daily in Delhi, with four people dying every day. The majority of those killed were pedestrians at 43 percent, while two-wheeler drivers came in second place at 38 percent.

The report also found that road accidents increase between 7:00 pm and 12:00 am. Most fatal accidents occur between 11:00 PM and 12:00 AM. There are 50 traffic circles in Delhi. In 2023, the maximum number of fatal accidents reached 91 in Narela circle. More fatal accidents were also recorded in Samaypur Badli, Ashok Vihar, Paschim Vihar, Najafgarh, Punjabi Bagh, Nangloi and Model Town Circle.
Most road accidents occurred on the ring road
According to the report, the maximum number of fatal road accidents in Delhi is 122 accidents that occurred on the Ring Road. Outer Ring Road, GTK Road, Rohtak Road, Najafgarh Road, Posta Road, Grand Trunk Road, Wazirabad Road, Mathura Road and Bawana Road are also included in this list. While in 2023, 15,972 people faced a lawsuit for drinking and driving, which is more than 600 percent more than in 2022.
Reduced incidence of not wearing a helmet or seat belt
But compared to 2022, there has been a decline in the number of decisions issued for not wearing helmets and not wearing seat belts in 2023.
