Pascal Siakam scored a hat-trick with 7.3 seconds left in overtime to help the Indiana Pacers beat the visiting Boston Celtics 135-132 on Wednesday night.
Jaylen Brown missed a 3-pointer that would have tied the game on Boston’s final possession.
Siakam scored 29 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and provided five assists. Teammate Benedict Mathurin came off the bench to score a team-high 30 points and grab 11 rebounds. Indiana ended a three-game losing streak.
Boston was down by 24 points with 3:35 remaining in the third quarter and trailed by 21 points with 8:55 remaining, but tied the game on Jayson Tatum’s 3-pointer with 14.4 seconds to play.
Tatum scored a game-high 37 points but was 5 of 18 on 3-pointers. The Celtics got 25 points from Jaylen Brown and 23 from Derrick White. Brown was 1-of-11 from long range.
The Celtics shot 40.4 percent from the field, including 33.3 percent (19 of 57) on 3-pointers. This is Boston’s first loss in five games this season.
Tyrese Haliburton scored 17 points and 12 assists for Indiana, which outscored Boston 11-8 in overtime.
The Celtics trailed by eight late in the first quarter, but White hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut Indiana’s lead to 35-31.
Indiana’s halftime lead peaked at 13 points, and the Pacers led 67-57 at halftime. Boston shot 37.3 percent (19 of 51) from the field in the first half, while Siakam scored 17 points.
Boston trailed 100-86 entering the fourth quarter.
The Pacers were without center Myles Turner (sprained left ankle). Turner averaged 15 points and 6.3 rebounds in Indiana’s first four games this season.
Boston’s Sam Hauser (back) is back after missing three games. He scored five points in 14 minutes.
